Gillian has had a passion  for photography since  childhood, receiving her  first camera at age 10, and  had it confiscated 2 weeks  later when she showed  rather alarming talent(1). In the early 90s, she  received informal training in the Kimberley,  taught by a wedding/portrait photographer & a  motorsport/landscape photographer, who had  very different ideas from one-another about  how a picture should be taken. The trial is still  pending(2). Over the years, Gillian has participated in  small, group workshops to remain up to date &  open-minded. When you look at the world  through a lens, it’s bound to get a bit skewed.  Gillian is continually pushing the boundaries of  what she has learned, not allowing herself to  form limitations or to stop learning.  With a background in visual & performing arts  as well as in marketing, it was thought that  Gillian would pursue a career as PR for David  Tennant. However, the camera objected, & (as  it is hard to separate Gillian & that much-loved  partner-in-crime) being a Photographer with  artistic flair (tempered by commercial know-  how & experience) won out. Gillian specialises in Band & Event  photography, however her work includes much  from Fine Art & Travel to Commercial  advertising & Portrait/Glamour photography.  She often likes combining these various facets  i.e. Travelling to do Portrait/Glamour  photography for a Band or Event, & will happily  discuss the possibility as such.  She’s a   published photojournalist (including Perth  Suburban Newspapers, Community Newspaper  Group, Drum Media, Xpress Magazine, &  Kalamunda Community Matters), with a couple  of rather proud Front Pages under her belt (&  quite likely on her wall too).  She is also a qualified makeup artist, with a  Cert 2 in Make Up Artistry & a Diploma in Make  Up for Film, Media & Theatre; with experience  in evening & special occasion makeups, high  fashion, stage production & film – including  casualty effects. Even though she can make it  look as though the crows have been circling for  a while, her makeup kit is geared towards  sensitive skin where possible.  She also holds a  current First Aid certificate; so if it’s not her  makeup you’re bloodied by, she’ll know what to  do!  Four days a week Gillian works for Elizabeth  Arden as a counter manager within David Jones   at Garden City, Booragoon. If you want some of   the world’s best skincare, makeup, a makeover,  complimentary skin/moisture consultation or the  absolute best tinted moisturiser that she’s ever  come across, hop on over & visit.  Since that first camera, Gillian has used &  tested a variety of camera makes & models  including Canon, Miranda, Kodak, Sony,  Practica, Olympus, Olympia, Nikon, Pentax &  Polaroid across both film & digital varieties.    Her equipment of choice now includes:    Pentax K10D Digital SLR    Pentax MZ60 35mm (film) SLR  Completely unrelated, Gillian writes, runs &  plays Dungeons & Dragons, along with the  occasional article or story.  With one book out  already, she’s currently working on another  three… one of them on Shoes.  The only thing  more important than her camera & passport, is  her cat; who never fails to bring her home from  her travels & occasionally crash a photoshoot.  And if you find yourself so inclined, you can read  Gillian’s blog.  Or take a look Behind the Scenes....  (1) Opinions expressed are NOT necessarily those of Gillian B.  (2) Just kidding! When you look at the world through a lens, it’s bound to get a bit skewed.
