Horizon Zero Dawn

Horizon Zero Dawn is an Action RPG by Guerrilla Games, released for PlayStation in 2017 & then PC in 2020. The story is rich & deep, it’s beautifully voice acted & has some very recognisable voice actors (including Ashly Burch & Lance Reddick), & the world is spectacularly gorgeous. The lighting alone will take your breath away, though the heights likely will too.

Horizon Zero Dawn is set in a post apocalyptic world where most animals have become extinct & robots rule most of the land itself. The story follows the story of Aloy from a young age into her mid teens, growing as a fiercely independent hunter & searching for answers about her past, which leads her to far more information & history than she could have ever imagined.

The photomode in this game is one of my favourites. It’s fully developed, well considered, & the controls feel like a real camera. This game saved me countless times, as I compensated for missing getting out with my camera due to lockdowns & then again after losing my ability to walk.

The sequel to this, Horizon Forbidden West, released on PlayStation in 2022 & PC in 2024. Guerrilla Games gifted me the PC sequel after seeing my images from this game, & I am looking forward to getting to play it (& fall deeply into photomode) on stream.
